Type Specimen: Raleway

Raleway is an elegant sans-serif typeface family. Initially designed by Matt McInerney as a single thin weight, it was expanded into a 9 weight family by Paolo Impallari and Rodrigo Fuenzalida in 2012 and iKerned by Igino Marini.

In this project, I designed and developed an interactive type specimen to present the unique characteristics of this Google font. Using HTML and CSS, I designed the website with aspects of hiding and revealing to create a fun and interactive experience for the user to learn about the typeface. Initially inspired by its wide variety of weights, I wanted to highlight Raleway’s ability to be effectively used for various scenarios – from elegant and thin display type, to readable body copy, to bold and loud headers.
